~ ~ METAL RECYCLE YARD ~~
When a person has health problems, a huge part of their life is spent at home within four walls.
Everyday life has so many elements to it .. colour, noise, smells, movement, people, interesting facets.
My philosophy was that Dot should see as much as any ordinary person ..
She was the ultimate recycler in her day so took her with me to drop off old metal items.
Instead of being in a nursing home, she was out in a hard hat enjoying normal life like anyone else.

~ ~ AN ANGEL AT THE BUS STOP ~~
I changed my plans as to going home from the city - instead of taking a taxi as usual - went for a random walk to
find a bus stop. (Brisbane buses have wheelchair access - a ramp is lowered to permit the chair to be wheeled on.)
This was at lunchtime and the footpaths were crowded with people .. I pushed Dot's wheelchair through a group of people to see the bus information on a post as to whether it was the one we wanted. Her chair got stuck as I was pushing up to the post. I looked down to see what the obstacle was. All along the city streets are decorative plaques in the footpath.
The random one we wound up getting stuck on (without even seeing it there) was
"An Angel At My Bus Stop"
I was stunned and wanted a photo of the coincidence so asked a lady with a camera phone to take the shot and email it to me.
~ ~ WHO'S THE PATIENT ? ~~
I had quite a few dental appointments so Dot would come with me. It was just another way for her to participate in the normal flow of life .. see traffic, the city, different people, trees etc.
When the dentist would call my name in the waiting room and I got up pushing the elderly Dot in a wheelchair, I always would have to say: "I'm the patient!". The staff doted on her and were enriched for having met her.
~ ~ JUST YOUR AVERAGE DRAGON IN THE PARK ~~
Had taken Dot for a random drive towards Cleveland, Brisbane because it is a bayside suburb.
We headed down towards Cleveland Point Park simply because it is a narrow strip of land with panoramic views of the water.
There is also a small lighthouse feature and park. As we drove up to the end noticed a DRAGON in the park. Photo taken past Dot looking out towards it. That was certainly unexpected !
